The first step is the most important. Vincentian Pathways is embarking on the 1st phase of our restoration project. The project will include the Lower Gateway portion of the property, which includes the pond area.
As part of this project, we will be creating a new park entrance along the existing drive between the Villa San Bernardo and the Light of Hearts Villas. The new entrance will include a park sign, plantings and a walkway. The work will address erosion along the west side of the property and reconstruct and enlarge the existing access drives to create a 1-way loop around the pond area. It will also extend the drive to the southwest portion of the property, install some much-needed drainage, and beautify the overall pond area. But most importantly, this phase will provide the necessary vehicular driveways in and out of the garden areas, which will allow us to bring the necessary construction vehicles and workers to address the remaining phases. The initial estimate for this project is $200,000.
Although we believe (and you may, too) that this might be the least glamorous phase of the project (driveways tend to be more utilitarian than beautiful), it is, however, the most necessary if we want to effectively address and complete any future stages.
