The first step is the most important. Vincentian Pathways is embarking on the 1st phase of our restoration project. The project will include the Lower Gateway portion of the property, which includes the pond area.
Vincentian Pathways Restoration Project: A New Chapter with Light of Hearts Villa as Fiduciary Agent
As we embark on this important phase of the Vincentian Pathways project, we are proud to announce that Light of Hearts Villa is now sponsoring and acting as the fiduciary agent for this restoration effort. This partnership is deeply rooted in the legacy of the Sisters, whose vision for preserving and enhancing this land has been passed down through generations. Our shared history and commitment to honoring the Sisters’ values are foundational to this initiative.
Project Overview: We will be creating a new park entrance along the existing drive between Villa San Bernardo and Light of Hearts Villa. This new entrance will feature a park sign, vibrant plantings, and a walkway. It will also address erosion issues along the west side of the property and improve the access roads, creating a 1-way loop around the pond area. The drive will be extended to the southwest portion of the property, with much-needed drainage improvements and enhanced beautification around the pond.
This crucial first phase will provide the necessary access for construction vehicles and workers, enabling us to complete the following stages of the restoration with efficiency and care. The estimated cost for this initial phase is $200,000.
Why This Phase Matters: While this phase may seem less glamorous—driveways and infrastructure are often viewed as utilitarian—it is the foundation for all future work. Without these improvements, the subsequent phases of the restoration cannot move forward. This step is vital to ensuring that the garden and grounds can be fully realized in line with the Sisters’ vision.
